A good summary by Yusuf Baadarani
1. The global financial crisis has forced the world to think in a radically different way about the global economy. However, there were no new answers at the G20 summit in April 2009. Not one world leader gave any real answers to the deep problems.
2. The leaders of the G20 nations are like a drowning man in an endless sea, with no shore in sight. He may panic, and swim desperately hoping to reach the shore. But his aim should be to stay afloat, as swimming will only lead to exhaustion, and ultimately drowning.
3. A man is bitten by a snake might well rush for an antedote without stopping to think. But if hes bankrupted he ought to stop and think; he ought not to rush to cut peoples’jobs and grab their savings.
4. Yet this is what has happened. The US and other countries that rely on the dollar have behaved just like that, rushing to hasty solutions without even thinking of the consequences to the lives of others.
5. They have made humanity a relative issue, prioritizing the human needs of the wealthy over the poor and ordinary people. A society that does this is a society of creatures other than humans.
6. In truth the summit was more drama than substance: an entertainment for the poor and hungry families devastated by the crisis and those made redundant.
7. The media was dominated with hour by hour coverage of the drama, promoting their solutions without focusing on the real causes of the crisis
8. In democracies, people delegate the thinking to their political leaders. Of course in theory people are supposed to have the right to choose. However, in practice, governments set the agenda for debate, and so called “experts” and officials collude with them in this.
9. Politicians and experts create a firewall between the rulers and the ruled. The ruled then suspend their own critical faculties in thinking of solutions.
10. So it is incumbent upon us to explain to our people the causes of this crisis. We must understand that the US government is trying to tie the entire world to its bandwagon. But this is a recipe for disaster.
11. The EU president with vigour, honesty and certainty stated: "the American stimulus plan is a route to hell". By understanding this situation we can look for real alternatives to the Greenspans or Gordon Browns of this world who would sacrifice our lives to serve US ends.
12. People mistakenly listen to the likes of Brown. But why should they believe him. He and his like have presided over this ruin and deceive us re the solutions, why should we then believe his promises and be surprised if they lie to us.
